Tx SCC Day 2: The One-Shoulder Maxi Dress

23 Mar

Before I get into to more blogging business posts, I wanted to show you what I wore for the fun event! Dressing for a blogging conference is tricky. I wanted to be cute, comfortable, admired by other people with strong opinions about the fashion industry, and to top it all off, be genuine to my personal style. I think I made a great choice for all of these demands by selecting a one-shoulder raspberry printed maxi-dress from Forever 21. Here’s how it turned out:

I went business casual with the outfit by pairing it with gold Steve Madden sandals, pearl earrings and necklace (an anniversary present from B), a Banana Republic gold bracelet (also a gift from B),and a large brown Halogen bag to stash all my conference notes, bloggie business cards, and my staple black Express cardigan in.

What do you think of maxi-dresses for day? Are they too formal? How do you stay comfortable when you know you’re going to be sitting for most of the day?

P.S. The other day I put out an SOS for help with red eye when inside pics are all you can hope for (For instance, on this outfit day, it happened to be raining outside….. perfect. not.) I received some good tips but I’m still on the look out for more, so feel free to comment with your advice or shoot me an e-mail at rachel.lovealamode [at] gmail .

This dress is stunning on you! The length is just perfect, I am about 5’6 and was concerned that this would not fit in length, but after your post, I just had to buy it!

Oh that’s so sweet :) I’m about 5’5″ if that helps you judge- should be fine on you!
